This early out-of-print book is an exhibition companion volume written by James H. Rose and prepared by Miss Helen McKearin on the occasion of Corning Glass Company’s exhibit of American pressed glass held from June through September, 1954.  The exhibit was part of a program Corning Glass Co. instituted to bring “to the public the story of man’s achievement in one material.”
Only 32 black and white photo plates illustrate the collection, while 942 items were exhibited with descriptions testifying to dimensions, item type, terse description, provenance, dates, makers—when known—of American-made pressed glass as well as a few pieces from Europe typical of lacy glass.  This informative volume will be an essential item in the reference library of collectors, dealers or curators of American pressed glass of the lacy period.
